I will be at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health for the first part of this month and will bring back some cutting edge research on the Science of Yoga! The rest of the month I'll be in Mpls visiting a couple yoga centers and returning home to Light Up Your Yoga! Guest Teaching at Rize was wonderful, Julie Frank is awesome to collaborate with.
Stay Tuned, Ambika
For all that are interested in lighting up your yoga practice this is what I will be teaching Locally and Beyond, this winter and spring. All Guest Teaching will be announced on this page, scroll down.
Join me in a class or workshop where I will be using Kripalu Approach methodology and offering step by step instruction in pranayama/breathing techniques eg; dirgha, ujjayi, kapalabhati, bhastrika, bramari, nadi shohadna, and hara breath as well as breath retention and locks. The different types of prana, benefits of pranayama, mechanics of breath, and subtle body anatomy will be explored while you practice. The intention is to move awakened prana through all parts of your body creating rivers of energy and cleansing. You will skillfully be guided to put yourself in postures/ you do yoga. Willfully direct your breath and attention to feelings, sensations, lines of energy while practicing nonjudgemental awareness/you do yoga and yoga does you. Express yourself freely under the direction of prana, meditation in motion/ yoga does you. Jai Bhagwan!!

I brought in the New Year dancing to Cory Medina and the Brothers last night, today I'm stretching out my muscles! And I'm gearing up to remove more piles of snow from the ground and the roof(s.) We got a major dump of it recently, hence we have days of major shoveling. But its gorgeous. And I'm happy to say that I upgraded my car, I bought a new Subaru that can travel through the elements safely.
I wont be traveling far until the end of January so do keep checking this site for specific times when I'll be teaching locally. Again "Light Up Your Yoga"/ Kripalu Approach Yoga with focus on pranayama, is being scheduled at a couple of studios. I'm also scheduling private sessions that are designed to meet individual intentions/needs. Sneak peak ; Feb will take me to Mass, NYC, and then to Mpls. Contact me with any questions/inquiry about services I can offer before, during (Mpls) or after.
A fellow yoginni recently remarked that she wished there was a way that all folks who practice yoga could collectively meet in a mass somewhere or at a designated spot in their state to chant the sacred sound of OM (and other chants.) With the powerful intention that an altering of mind, body, and spirit would occur in this divided, crazy, country of ours. I myself have committed to sharing peace, hope, and compassion wherever I go, more that I ever have as well as armoring up to calling out the bad guys. Speaking truth while cherishing life. So Go For It!! Share your gifts, be bold, light up the room's you enter, and breathe.
Life is Breath, breathe deeply.....Love to All, Ambi, or Karen Ruth!
To be Jolly! I hope you are feeling cheerful, in the moment, and enjoying treats. They seem to be everywhere. I recently went to Mpls Yoga Center Retreat where I endulged in delicious baked goods, guitar music, a great class, and Reiki (customer appreciation day.) Be sure to take in some yoga classes at your favorite studio, we Teachers are super tuned in to trying to keep you breathing and sane.
As for breathing I have proposed "Light Up Your Yoga" to several studios; Kripalu Approach pranayama infused class(es) or workshop(s) beginning after the new year. Locally I'll start @ Lilypad, but stay tuned for other locations including the Twin Cities. Ill also post details of what you will learn or how you'll refresh your practice.
One of my Kriplau Master Yoga Teachers, Sudah Lundeen, will be Guest Teaching at; The Marsh in Minnetonka, the day after Christmas @ 1:00. I'll be there with her, also family and friends. Look at their Dec. calendar if you're interested in a deeply relaxing class.
Whatever your tradition is this time of year may it be good, and may you enjoy it. May ALL beings be happy, healthy, and know peace. Om Shanti Om
Ambika-ren JAI
It is already the second week of November! I devoted most of my time to this fall to getting some immediate things done on my Dads farm. Next thing on the agenda is to sell cows, non milkers but they still require work. Im splitting my time between two homes, lucky for me theyre both in the northwoods, and my husband is so present and supportive. I have an awesome extended family, and a great brother so life is good. What keeps me balanced is my practice which is a big priority and I am now more than ever committed to sharing it.
I will teach a Kripalu approach class Saturday Nov 23, 9:30 in the Upper Room @ United Methodist. MT has something else going on that morning so please join me if you can. I love seeing any old students of mine and new faces.
I'm wrapping up the "lesson plans" for Pranayama and Asana. I just need to schedule some Guest Teachings locally and in Mpls. so again stay tuned. My intentions for fall totally changed due to losing my Dad but I should be back on track by the end of the month.
I cant instruct well unless I practice what I teach. Heres to let you know I'm all oiled up and ready to go (literally, its Almond Oil season.)
Hope to see you Soon!! JAI BHAGWAN, Ambika-ren
